She has been a dedicated wound care advocate for two decades with interests focused on medical education, diabetic foot care, wound care, limb salvage, & clinical research. Based in Western Pennsylvania, she completed her Masters in Health Services Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Jennie holds certifications from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) in medical coding (CPC) and medical auditing (CPMA), and is an AAPC certified instructor. In 2022, she was honored to receive a Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association Rising Star award. She currently serves as President for the AAPC Greater Pittsburgh Area local chapter.

He is Founder and President Emeritus of AZH Wound & Hyperbaric Center (2015-2021). Dr. Niezgoda was the Hyperbaric Medical Director at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee (1999-2013). Dr. Niezgoda serves as the CMO for Kent Imaging and for WebCME, an international educational wound care and hyperbaric company. Dr. Niezgoda is a graduate of the US Air Force Academy (1981) and received his MD from the Uniformed Services University of Health Science (1985).

Earlier in his career, William was a founding member and Vice President of Operations at Veritas Medical Review Solutions. He led the implementation and operations of the inaugural CMS RAC program for Region A, encompassing Part A, Part B, and DME programs, and acted as a subcontractor for the CMS Level II reconsideration appeals contract. Additionally, he was pivotal in designing and executing strategies to assist wound care providers in navigating challenges such as high-frequency audits and medical necessity determinations in the absence of clear policy guidance. William’s extensive experience positions him as a trusted leader and innovator in the healthcare compliance and audit landscape.

Dr. Thomas E. Serena MD FACS FACHM MAPWCA, Founder and Medical Director of The SerenaGroup®, a family of wound, hyperbaric and research companies, is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The College of William and Mary and Penn State Medical School. He completed his residency in Surgery at The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center with additional year of training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Southern Illinois University. To date he has opened and operates wound care centers across the United Sates and globally. Dr. Serena has been the lead or Principal investigator in over 100 clinical trials, including gene therapy for critical limb ischemia, antimicrobial dressings, growth factors, topical and parenteral antibiotics and CTP therapy. He founded the first wound healing cooperative research group that produced more than 12 manuscripts in 2016 alone. Dr. Simman is a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He is the founding president and chair of the American Board of Wound Medicine and Surgery, past president of the American College of Clinical Wound Specialists. He sits on the editorial board of the Annals of Plastic Surgery and the Journal of Wound Care. He is Clinical Professor at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences, Department of Surgery. He is the Director of the Wound Care Program at Jobst Vascular Institute/ProMedica Health Network, Toledo, Ohio. His background includes training in General Surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, Columbia University in New York, NY and a Plastic Surgery residency at Providence Hospital and Medical Centers in Southfield, Michigan. In addition, he completed a Burn Fellowship followed by a Wound Healing/Cultured Keratinocytes Research Fellowship at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers, abstracts, letters and book chapters.
