Prior to this he served as Vice Chairman for operations, for the Department of Surgery at both Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Morningside since 2014, and the chief of Vascular and Endovascular surgery since 2007. He attained the academic rank of Professor of Surgery first at Columbia University in 2013, and subsequently in 2014 at the Icahn School of Medicine. In addition as co-chair of the Cardiovascular and interventional radiology value analysis committee, he has served on the corporate steering committee for value analysis since 2014.

Dr. Thomas E. Serena MD FACS FACHM MAPWCA, Founder and Medical Director of The SerenaGroup®, a family of wound, hyperbaric and research companies, is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The College of William and Mary and Penn State Medical School. He completed his residency in Surgery at The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center with additional year of training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Southern Illinois University. To date he has opened and operates wound care centers across the United Sates and globally. Dr. Serena has been the lead or Principal investigator in over 100 clinical trials, including gene therapy for critical limb ischemia, antimicrobial dressings, growth factors, topical and parenteral antibiotics and CTP therapy. He founded the first wound healing cooperative research group that produced more than 12 manuscripts in 2016 alone. In 2011 he developed a diagnostic technique that now bears his name (The Serena Technique©). He holds numerous patents on wound care devices and dressings.

Dr. Simman is a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He is the founding president and chair of the American Board of Wound Medicine and Surgery, past president of the American College of Clinical Wound Specialists. He sits on the editorial board of the Annals of Plastic Surgery and the Journal of Wound Care. He is Clinical Professor at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences, Department of Surgery. He is the Director of the Wound Care Program at Jobst Vascular Institute/ProMedica Health Network, Toledo, Ohio. His background includes training in General Surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, Columbia University in New York, NY and a Plastic Surgery residency at Providence Hospital and Medical Centers in Southfield, Michigan. In addition, he completed a Burn Fellowship followed by a Wound Healing/Cultured Keratinocytes Research Fellowship at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers, abstracts, letters and book chapters.

Dr. William H. Tettelbach is a certified wound specialist physician actively board-certified in Undersea & Hyperbaric Medicine, Infectious Diseases, and Internal Medicine while retaining academic appointments at Duke University School of Medicine and Western University of Health Sciences. He currently serves as the Executive Medical Director of the newly established Hyperbaric Medicine & Wound Care Service line for the Mountain Division (Alaska, Idaho & Utah) of HCA Healthcare. His career has been dedicated to teaching providers and improving patients’ lives requiring the services of Hyperbaric Medicine, Advanced Wound Care, and Infectious Diseases. In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Tettelbach is an active member of Noridian’s Contractor Advisory Committee (CAC) providing guidance in the development of Hyperbaric Medicine, Wound Care, and Infectious Diseases local coverage determinations. He is also a committee member for The Alliance of Wound Care Stakeholders which acts as one of the voices for Hyperbaric Medicine in the Government Affairs health policy arena.
